Oden Preschool Awarded Early Literacy Grant
Mrs. Kimberly Gray-Robertson, Director of the DMESC Oden ABC Preschool was recently notified as one of the grant recipients from the Hot Springs Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation.

DESE representatives introduced the new state assessment, ATLAS (Arkansas Assessment Theory of Action), test design and blueprint, types of assessment, and use of data in the Grand Hall at DMESC. The new state test vendor, Cambium, trainers also introduced the testing portal.

Thirty-five of our foster grandparents from DMESC attended their annual conference at DeGray Lake last week June 7-9. A total of 110 grandparents from around the state attended. They received training in ways to help students with behavior, math, literacy as well as how to keep themselves safe and how to exercise their body and brain. A little fun was also included such as a barge tour, games, entertainment, and crafts.



Teachers learned about fundamental content at each grade level, and explore best practices in science instruction today in What Do Students Really Need to Know? Elevating Fundamental Content in Science with Brian Schuller.

DeQueen Primary hosted a 2-day training on School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports for their entire staff. Teams from Lafayette Co, TASD, Mena, & Caddo Hills also attended. ARBSS, Connie Thomason & Allison Mears led this group through setting up district behavior systems.


Lisa Schuller worked with DMESC educators in 3-6 RISE Day 5: Text Comprehension. Teachers examined factors that affect reading comprehension.

All In: Inclusive Education. DMESC had a house full of educators in the Grand Hall. The DESE Office of Special Education presented a session packed full of strategies and resources for educators to provide all students with the opportunity for success.
