Amy Montgomery, Mentoring Programs Specialist, and Tyra Hobson, Technology Coordinator, were thrilled to attend the Career Connect student event, hosted by our partner, UARM. This collaboration between the Western Arkansas Planning & Development District (WAPDD) and Polk and Montgomery County High Schools provided seniors with the opportunity to hone their interview skills. As passionate educators, Amy and Tyra engaged with students, offering encouragement and conducting insightful interviews. Amy also took the opportunity to share valuable scholarship opportunities and the numerous advantages that DMESC offers to future educators. #thinkcoop1st. Science Webpage Update
The science unit has reimagined the landing page on our DESE Website. Each grade level can now quickly access their standards documents, fundamental content documents, and assessment blueprints. There are also webinars posted containing information on the ATLAS science interims, and the new fundamental content documents. These newly created supplemental documents accompany the Arkansas K-12 Science standards, and clearly indicate the content that students should know by the end of each grade level or course K-12. #thinkcoop1st. DMESC and GFESC foster grandparents received training in February about nutrition and eating a healthy diet. Representatives from four Cooperative Extension Aging Offices (Howard-Jean Ince, Sevier-Janet Cantrell, Logan-Katie Golden, and Polk-Bridgett Martin) shared ideas on what a healthy plate looks like, what foods help keep your brain healthy, how to eat healthy in a restaurant, and foods that are best for diabetics. The workshops stressed to our grandparents that it is important for them to maintain their health to care for our students in school.
