My name is Karla Byrne.  I am very excited to be a member of the outstanding literacy team at DeQueen Mena Education Service Cooperative!  I have had the opportunity to work with the specialists at the co-op over the course of my career and know the positive influence that they bring to a school.  I look forward to continuing that tradition.

My journey to this destination started 33 years ago at Jo Ann Walters Elementary School in Dierks.  I spent 22 years in sixth grade, one year in third grade, and the last ten years as the elementary school principal.  Throughout my tenure with the elementary school, literacy was a priority for me.  I have seen many changes in this arena and know that many more are coming.  This is an exciting time to be in the field of education and I look forward to assisting others as changes are implemented.  If there is anything I can do to assist you, do not hesitate to contact me.

I live in Dierks with my husband.  We have been blessed with three outstanding children.  We have one grandchild, Easton, who fills our days with joy.  I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my family and our dog.  Reading and baking are two of my favorite pastimes.
